Philip Markoff, 24, committed suicide in his cell Aug. 15, a day after what would have been his first wedding anniversary (his fiancee broke off their engagement after he was arrested). Markoff had been charged with the fatal shooting of Julissa Brisman of New York City and in the armed robbery of a Las Vegas woman, both of which occurred in April of 2009 in Boston, Mass. hotels. Both encounters were “facilitated” by Craigslist….

Craigslist Changes Classic Layout in Response to Competition

Craigslist has changed it’s old layout. Was is because of millions of users complaining for years? No! It was because of competition from a rival site!

…Craigslist.org has historically been known to not bend to the pressure of it’s users. That’s why it’s drab grey layout has been the standard layout since Craigslist was founded. Recently, something has changed Craigslist’s outlook and forced them to become more aesthetically appealing. What is it? Competition! Mayslist.com has been gaining ground on Craigslist.org and Craigslist has taken notice. The new Craigslist layout looks so much like Mayslist, one has to wonder if Craigslist is making an attempt to protect itself from further loss of users by mirroring Mayslist.

Mayslist.com was created recently and has been the topic of much conversation on the craigslist user forums and discussion boards as being the best alternative to Craigslist.

There are some key differences that suggest that Mayslist is more in-tune with the next generation of online classifieds users:

Craigslist Kills!

ATV ad leads to murder most foul.

…burb to check out the ATV they saw on the Craigslist website.
The cops say the men spoke to the supposed seller of that ATV, who said he needed a ride to go get the keys. In the car, investigators say that seller shot and killed one of the Shelby Township men. They say he then tried to shoot the other man, but he escaped before he met the same fate as his companion. The seller then ditched the car in Detroit. Police found it with the dead victim still inside.
The police are still searching for the suspect in this bizarre shooting….

Craigslist Kills Again — Chrislip Journal

Satire. Another local newspaper is killed by Craigslist, impacting an elderly woman’s diet.

…I’ve always been more of a Texas-Pete-with-my-newspaper kind of a guy. I recently made the transition to Lousiana Hot Sauce which is a little saltier and might be a good foil for sweeter articles. Puppy rescues baby from nursery fire or something similar….

Craigslist Ad Solicits Babysitter For Oregon Football Team

Because they’ve been so well behaved these last few weeks. Get it? Seriously, Chip Kelly should probably hire someone.

…In light of the uniformly disastrous offseason befalling the Oregon Ducks, some fans are doing whatever they can to right their team’s ship. And by “doing whatever they can,” of course, we mean “posting parody job ads on Craigslist to make fun of the team.” Hey, everyone reacts to emotional trauma in their own way.

Browsing through Craigslist

Browsing through Craigslist: I found this…

…First, your pet will be taken from its kennel on a leash. They always look like they think they are going for a walk happy, wagging their tails. Until they get to “The Room”, every one of them freaks out and puts on the brakes when we get to the door. It must smell like death or they can feel the sad souls that are left in there, it’s strange, but it happens with every one of them. Your dog or cat will be restrained, held down by 1 or 2 vet techs depending on the size and how freaked out they are. Then a euthanasia tech or a vet will start the process. They will find a vein in the front leg and inject a lethal dose of the “pink stuff”. Hopefully your pet doesn’t panic from being restrained and jerk. I’ve seen the needles tear out of a leg and been covered with the resulting blood and been deafened by the yelps and screams. They all don’t just “go to sleep”, sometimes they spasm for a while, gasp for air and defecate on themselves….
